They also have a new IP codenamed 'Project Awakening' that seems to be a Dark Souls and Monster Hunter inspired game which they have stated will be extended to PS5 depending on how development goes, and they haven't cancelled it yet but probably put on the slow burner until development on Re:Link is finished. With how hostile government and players are getting towards lootbox-style gameplay, it was a surprisingly wise decision from at least 6 years ago when the conversation wasn't as bad (for companies) as it is today.

I believe that's why they are transitioning into non-gacha games. I'd be surprised if there's any one answer, it's probably a little of everything. Cygames may have just decided to want the entire pie and pulled it in for themselves.
